Husband Of Top Trump Aide Conway Considered For Solicitor General

The husband of Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway is being considered for a post in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, according to media reports.

NBC News, CNN and Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources as the origin of their reports, said George Conway is among those on the final list of people being considered for the position of U.S. solicitor general.

NBC cushioned its report by noting, “It is not unusual for trial balloons to be floated during transitions to the White House, and Trump’s choice won’t be certain until the president-elect announces it.”

CNN reported that Conway had already been interviewed by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., whom Trump has selected to be his attorney general.

The solicitor general represents the government in cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Conway has been a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York since January 1994. He is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School.

Bloomberg noted that George Conway was not involved in the Trump campaign.

NBC reported that Kellyanne Conway has not been part of the administration’s discussions about her husband.

The network said it was told George Conway would accept the post if offered.

George Conway has not offered any comment on the reports.

His previous Washington experience dates back to the 1990s.

He was among the lawyers representing Paula Jones in her sexual harassment lawsuit against then-President Bill Clinton.

Kellyanne Conway, a longtime GOP pollster and strategist, was brought on as Trump’s campaign manager in August and went on to become the first woman to lead a successful presidential run.

She will serve in Trump’s administration as counselor to the president.
