President Barack Hussein Obama’s awful presidency is finally approaching an end, and some members of the Israeli government could not be more overjoyed.
“Who is Obama?” one such political figure, Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev, asked rhetorically Tuesday while speaking with a local station, as reported by The Times of Israel.
“Obama is history,” she answered herself. “We have Trump.”
However, approximately three weeks remained till Obama would at last be replaced by President-elect Donald Trump, a man who actually cared about the interests of the Israeli people. Until that time, the Israelis had no intention of kowtowing to the U.S. president.
“We’re not just going to be a punching bag and go quietly into the night as the Obama administration helps push such a grave resolution,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesman David Keyes said earlier in the week, as noted by Ynetnews.
The mention of a resolution referred to a vote by the United Nations Security Council last week to condemn Israel’s settlement activities. Because Obama chose to abstain from the vote, it passed unanimously, thus enraging the Israelis, who felt as if the president had stabbed them in the back.
“We have ironclad information that emanates from sources in the Arab world and that shows the Obama administration helped craft this resolution and pushed hard for its eventual passage,” Keyes added.
So not only had Obama interfered in Israel’s last parliamentary election, but he also actively sought to push the U.N. to condemn the nation’s settlement activity.
Moreover, Tablet magazine has confirmed that the president’s partner in crime, Vice President Joe Biden, made a phone call to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko prior to the U.N. vote to convince him to change his “vote from an expected abstention to a ‘yes.’”
Speaking earlier this week about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Secretary of State John Kerry made the laughable claim that the Obama administration was a friend to the Israelis. Sorry to burst his bubble, but real friends do not betray one other.
It was no wonder that Israelis such as Miri Regev were so thrilled that Obama was finally on his way out of the White House.
