Trump Ring In New Year With Sylvester Stallone

President-elect Donald Trump will reportedly spend New Year’s Eve at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., with his wife Melania, his youngest son, Baron, and Sylvester Stallone.

The president-elect will host a cocktail hour followed by dinner and dancing in one of his estate’s ballrooms with an expected 800 guests, according to incoming press secretary Sean Spicer.

Stallone and legendary music producer Quincy Jones are amongst the A-list celebrities on Trump’s guest list.

Jones, a 27-time Grammy award-winning artist, endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2008, and donated the maximum amount to her campaign this year.

Trump’s transition team has not announced if any other family members will attend the event, but Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr. and his family are currently in Florida at his family’s Palm Beach property, which has been dubbed the “Winter White House.”

Stallone, most famous for his role as boxer Rocky Balboa, endorsed Sen. John McCain in 2008 but reportedly doesn’t consider himself a member of the GOP.

“I don’t think you can be totally one-sided forever. Then you close your mind to all sorts of possibilities,” he told Variety in January. “It’s just ‘Who comes along better at that time for what the planet is going through?’”

He admitted at the time that he had great admiration for the then-Republican frontrunner.

“I love Donald Trump. He’s a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean? There are certain people like Arnold [Schwarzenegger], Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don’t know how that translates to running the world,” Stallone quipped.

Trump is a longtime fan of Stallone and praised him in his best-selling 1987 book Art of the Deal, calling the actor “diamond-in-the-rough.”

“Some people criticize Stallone, but you’ve got to give him credit. I mean, here’s a man who is just 41-years old, and he’s already created two of the all-time great (movie) characters, Rocky and Rambo,” Trump wrote.

Trump has considered appointing Stallone as a potential chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. The National Endowment for the Arts has huge grant-making ability and has the capacity to fund everything from museums and opera shows to promoting policies and programs.

The president-elect is scheduled to return to New York City on New Year’s Day.
